        Aiming for the future today....

        Being champions for our children

        THE VISION

        “TEACH A MAN TO FISH”
There are basically two kinds of need, or poverty – situational and generational.
Situational need is for a limited time, caused by a change in the normal work or income of
        a  household.
Generational poverty is passed from parent to child with the next generation learning the
process and procedure of “working the system” to survive.
The old adage is, “give a man a fish and he eats for a day; teach a man to fish and he
eats for a lifetime”.  Our desire is to help in each need by inserting mentoring
opportunities into the lives of the most at-risk of this population – the children.
The plan is to have peer and adult mentors available at regular intervals to encourage
and assist the children of our community as they learn to manage the challenges of life
and accomplish educational and social goals.

        STRAIGHT “A” APPROACH

Here is what we strive to achieve:
        Affirm them through –
        Generous encouragement
                    Character Education
                    Homework help and reward

        Address their need –
                   Nutrition supplement
                   Study Habits

                    Social Habits
        Attempt new things –
                    Meet the merchants
                    Meet the Mayor

        Parental Support / Financial Management
        Accomplishment –
                    Academic goals / reward
                    Work ethic / Positive Peers
                    Personal Success
        Accelerate the progress –
                    Peer Mentors
                    Community ownership
                    Retreat / Camp experience
